Kate Marie Nash

Kate Marie Nash (born 6 July 1987) is an English singer, songwriter and musician. She had a UK number-2 hit “Foundations” in 2007, followed by the platinum-selling UK number-1 album Made of Bricks. She was named Best Female Artist at the 2008 BRIT Awards. Her second studio album, entitled My Best Friend Is You, was released in the United Kingdom on 19 April 2010 and in the U.S. on 11 May 2010. It spawned her second biggest chart hit to date, the single “Do-Wah-Doo”. Nash is currently signed to The Island Def Jam Motown Ireland Group. Nash started her career in 2005. After several gigs, she uploaded her music to MySpace, found a manager and then producers for her music. Nash’s debut was a single, “Caroline’s a Victim”/”Birds”, produced and recorded in Iceland by Valgeir Sigurðsson and released through Moshi Moshi Records in February 2007. The release was limited to 1,000 copies and available only on 7″ vinyl. Due to demand, another 1,000 copies were made and these also sold out. CD-promo copies were produced for distribution to the press and DJs and are occasionally available for sale. The single is featured on the CD Moshi Moshi Singles Compilation. A video for the song, directed by Kinga Burza, was released and received airplay on MTV2. The single’s B-side, “Birds”, later featured on her début album Made of Bricks. Both tracks have also been released as MP3 downloads. The first single from the album was called “Do-Wah-Doo”, and was released on 12 April 2010. The album was released on 20 April. The sound was described as completely different from her debut album and having a “Girl Group” sound, taking influence from Motown stars such as Diana Ross and The Supremes. Nash explained that maturity is the reason for the change in musical style. The album has been described as having a wide variety of sounds from wall of sound, Motown to No Wave and Riot Grrrl. As of 11 May, the album was number 6 in Germany and number 16 in Europe.  As of 27 May, the album was at number 62 in the United States. On 24 February 2011, her concerts in Circo Voador, Rio de Janeiro and in HSBC Hall, São Paulo were the first contact with her Brazilian fans. It was so intense that Nash has said on stage “Here (Rio de Janeiro) was the happiest place I have ever been. You are beautiful, incredible” and promised a return soon.  On her Twitter, she finally declared “Rio, you’re just too good to be true. I must be dreaming. Thanks for giving me the best concert of my life”. On 2 May 2012, Nash announced the “Faster Pussycat Run Run Tour”, which will see her play 12 shows across the UK throughout June 2012.  Her third studio album will be released later in the year.  She will also star in two feature films this year, details of which are yet to be announced. On 15 June 2012, she released a music video for new song, “Under-Estimate The Girl”, which was available for free on her website.

Sir Alec Guinness

Sir Alec Guinness, CH, CBE (2 April 1914 – 5 August 2000) was an English actor. He was featured in several of the Ealing Comedies, including Kind Hearts and Coronets in which he played eight different characters. He later won the Academy Award for Best Actor for his role as Colonel Nicholson in The Bridge on the River Kwai. He is known for playing Obi-Wan Kenobi in the original Star Wars trilogy. He also played Prince Feisal in Lawrence of Arabia and George Smiley in the TV adaptation of Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy. In films, Guinness was initially associated mainly with the Ealing comedies, and particularly for playing eight different characters in Kind Hearts and Coronets. Other films from this period included The Lavender Hill Mob, The Ladykillers, and The Man in the White Suit. In 1952, director Ronald Neame cast Guinness in his first romantic lead role, opposite Petula Clark in The Card. He won particular acclaim for his work with director David Lean. After appearing in Lean’s Great Expectations and Oliver Twist, he was given a starring role opposite William Holden in The Bridge on the River Kwai. For his performance as Colonel Nicholson, the unyielding British POW leader, Guinness won an Academy Award. Despite a difficult and often hostile relationship, Lean, referring to Guinness as “my good luck charm”, continued to cast Guinness in character roles in his later films: Arab leader Prince Feisal in Lawrence of Arabia; the title character’s half-brother, Bolshevik leader Yevgraf, in Doctor Zhivago; and Indian mystic Godbole in A Passage to India. He was also offered a role in Lean’s Ryan’s Daughter (1970), but declined.   Other notable film roles of this period included The Swan (1956) with Grace Kelly, in her second to last film role; The Horse’s Mouth (1958) in which Guinness played the part of drunken painter Gulley Jimson as well as contributing the screenplay, for which he was nominated for an Academy Award; the lead in Carol Reed’s Our Man in Havana (1959); Marcus Aurelius in The Fall of the Roman Empire (1964); The Quiller Memorandum (1966); Marley’s Ghost in Scrooge (1970); Charles I of England in Cromwell (1970); and the title role in Hitler: The Last Ten Days (1973), which he considered his best film performance, though critics disagreed. Guinness also played the role of Jamessir Bensonmum, the blind butler, in the 1976 Neil Simon film Murder By Death.

Star Wars

Guinness’s role as Obi-Wan Kenobi in the original Star Wars trilogy, beginning in 1977, brought him worldwide recognition by a new generation. Guinness agreed to take the part on the condition that he would not have to do any publicity to promote the film. He was also one of the few cast members who believed that the film would be a box office hit; he negotiated a deal for 2% of the gross, which made him very wealthy in his later life. His role would also result in Golden Globe and Academy Award nominations. Despite these rewards, Guinness soon became unhappy with being identified with the part, and expressed dismay at the fan-following that the Star Wars trilogy attracted. In the DVD commentary of Star Wars: A New Hope, director George Lucas says that Guinness was not happy with the script re-write in which Obi-Wan is killed. However, Guinness said in a 1999 interview that it was actually his idea to kill off Obi-Wan, persuading Lucas that it would make him a stronger character, and that Lucas agreed to the idea. Guinness stated in the interview, “What I didn’t tell Lucas was that I just couldn’t go on speaking those bloody awful, banal lines. I’d had enough of the mumbo jumbo.” He went on to say that he “shriveled up” every time Star Wars was mentioned to him. Despite Guinness’s dislike of the films, Lucas and fellow cast members Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, Anthony Daniels, and Carrie Fisher have spoken highly of his courtesy and professionalism, both on and off the set, in not displaying his distaste for the material to his co-stars. Lucas credited him with inspiring cast and crew to work harder, saying that Guinness contributed significantly to achieving completion of the filming. Guinness was quoted as saying that the royalties he obtained from working on the films gave him “no complaints; let me leave it by saying I can live for the rest of my life in the reasonably modest way I am now used to, that I have no debts and I can afford to refuse work that doesn’t appeal to me.” In his autobiography, Blessings In Disguise, Guinness tells an imaginary interviewer “Blessed be Star Wars!”. In the final volume of the book A Positively Final Appearance (1997), Guinness recounts grudgingly giving an autograph to a young fan who claimed to have watched Star Wars over 100 times, on the condition that the boy promise to stop watching the film, because, as Guinness told him, “this is going to be an ill effect on your life.” The fan was stunned at first, but later thanked him (though some sources say it went differently).

Caroline Trentini

Caroline Trentini (born July 6, 1987 in Panambi, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil[2]), also known as Carol Trentini, is a Brazilian fashion model. However, her modeling career immediately took off, and after a year, Trentini moved again, this time to New York City. She couldn’t speak English but quickly learned. Trentini’s breakthrough came when designer Marc Jacobs cast her in his Marc by Marc Jacobs ad campaign, photographed by Juergen Teller. She has appeared on the covers of magazines ELLE, Harper’s Bazaar and Vogue, among others. In 2007, she was the face of Gucci Cruise, Oscar de la Renta, Dolce & Gabbana Animelier, Dsquared² and Mulberry. Currently, she is the face on DKNY and Carlos Miele. Trentini made her Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show debut in 2005 and also walked the show in 2006 and 2009. In early 2009 she switched her representation in New York City. She left her original agency, Marilyn and signed with IMG Models in New York. In early 2010, she switched agencies again, this time to Women Management.
